Hello! Welcome to Bucharest!

Alina, your Bucharest local guide
My name is Alina and I am the founder of When in Bucharest, a passionate team of Bucharest local guides.

Thank you for stopping by to learn a little bit about us, before we start together a great tour of Bucharest.

Fist things first: we are 100% Bucharest locals in love with our home town, as well as licensed private guides.

Our backgrounds are interesting and varied, ranging from sociology to economics, foreign languages, translation and interpretation, banking and teaching. All in all, we all have one big trait in common: we love welcoming travelers and sharing with them the best of Bucharest!

To name a few of the things that set us apart and make our tours really special: years of experience, professionalism, good language and communication skills, local knowledge, all topped by tailoring tours to fit each traveler’s interest and pace.

Please email us at office@wheninbucharest.com, text/contact us directly on mobile / WhatsApp / Telegram / Signal at 0040723179233.

Thank you for choosing Bucharest for your holiday. We look forward to sharing with you the best of our city!

Alina’s tour was everything it promised to be and more. Alina herself was very prompt, friendly and had an excellent sense of humour. She took us to some excellent “off the beaten track” places that we wouldn’t have realised existed (hidden cafes, courtyards and various sights) as well as taking us in to some places we wouldn’t have known you could enter (such as the Opera hall). I highly recommend her for any tour as she was superb.

In Bucharest for a romantic city break with his spouse

Not just a tour, but New Friends!

This was such an amazing time an the tour guides are so passionate about the country. My guide, Carmen, was so much fun. I was the only one on the tour so it felt like a close friend or family member showing me the city.

We walked through Old Bucharest and talked about how the streets and trades had changed, as well as stopping into a local shops. The evening was tailored to whatever i was interested in! Of course, since i choose the Wine Tour, we ended up at a wine bar to sample the Romanian wines! This is a must do for any wine connoisseur. The shop is run by an Italian who knows his wines, and we tasted 5 wines.Alina, the owner of the tour guide company joined us as well. The evening turned into a night of new friends feeling like old friend. The tour was over, but we stayed and had more wine and discussed the dichotomies of the Romanian culture and her passionate hope for the future. It was my favourite night in Bucharest.

Thank you Alina, Carmen, and Claudio for such a great night!

Fun & relaxed

Having Roland as out tour guide was a fun experience. He likes to communicate with people and knows a lot of stuff about Bucharest. As a tour leader I entrusted him my group of 46 people which he handled very well.
